October Favorites Addiction

October is an amazing time for scarves, boots, sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes and leaves to jump in!! :) This month is also what I like to call a transition month from summer to fall and into winter. Along with leaves and scarves we also get to embrace static-y hair, tanless skin, and dry air that's not-so-nice to your skin. So we may not embrace these things, but more endure them. Either way, I put together some of my favorite products and tricks that will help you out of October and into November!

1. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle: This is by far my favorite and also the cheapest! The dry air goes hand in hand with dry hair. Keep it as moisturized as possible to keep yourself from looking like you just had a balloon rubbed on your head. A great deep conditioner is crucial.  You can use it every time you wash your hair if you wanted and not have to worry about build up or greasy hair. Just make sure to apply it to the bottoms of your hair right up to your ears and avoid your roots. Keep in your 3 minutes and your on your way to silky hair!

2. Dryer sheets: Even if you use a deep conditioner you may run into those winter/fall days of static hair everywhere. Don't be scared to take off a hat just because of the risk that you may look like you stuck your finger in an electrical socket! Throw a couple in your bag and you'll be static free the whole day. Rub them over your hair and the static will be kept at bay. This works the same way it works for your clothes! Also go ahead and use them for skirts or dresses sticking to tights. This is a fall and winter quick fix staple!

3. John Fredia's Secret Weapon Finishing Creme: I have the travel size for my bag and the full size. :) This stuff is seriously what it says it is - a secret weapon. Sometimes your hair is dull, dry, and just not doing it for you. Squirt out a pea size amount, rub it through your hands and in your hair and Viola! I don't know what it does but whatever it is, I can see a difference in my hair and I like it. :)

4. True Blue Spa's Strike Gold: My least favorite part about October is the sad transition between tan summer skin and now pale fall skin. Unfortunately I was not blessed with perfect Nicole Kidman porcelain skin where pale looks beautiful. Self tanners are a tricky topic because most are orange, most make you smell terrible, and most are gonna end up streaky. Sure, you could go spray tanning but it is easier when you have control over how much and what color. It does although have a gold tint but when applied with a light hand it gives you a bronze glow instead of looking like you rolled around in a bag of Doritos. Always apply any self tanner with gloves!!! The whole idea of using a self tanner is to look like you have a natural tan not like you have been using a self tanner. If you do not use gloves you will have orange palms. Surgical gloves work best. You can also take another self tanner that is more of a brown color and mix in a bowl to get a more natural look. You can find this self tanner at Bath and Body Works.

5. Caress's Tahitian Renewal Silkening Body Wash: My favorite body wash during fall is one that doesn't even smell like fall at all. I love tropical scents and I also love exfoliating body washes because during the dry seasons its best to get rid of dry skin as much as possible because once lotion is applied it will last longer. This body wash does an amazing job at lightly exfoliating and the smell lasts a long time! I can't get enough of this scent! By the way... the bottle is huge!!

6. Flirt! Glamouflage Healer/Conclear: For some sad reason, the fall and winter also lead to breakouts for me. I don't get as much time in the sun to clear up my skin as I do in the summer, so having a good cover up is important. I have been using this for years and always return to it because I haven't found anything better. You can find this and the rest of the Flirt! line at Kohls. This coverup has an anti-acne formula with salicylic acid which is perfect for drying out a blemish. It is easy to blend and covers up well with a powder on top to set the makeup.
